The most abundant cell type in lung interstitium is fibroblasts. They resemble ordinary fibroblasts but have some distinguishing features, for example, they have long branching processes and gap junctions. Their principle function is production of type III collagen, elastin, and proteoglycans of the extracellular matrix of the alveolar septa. Pulmonary fibroblasts (PF) play an important role in the repair and remodeling processes following injury. The controlled accumulation of fibroblasts to sites of inflammation is crucial to effective tissue repair after injury. Either inadequate or excessive accumulation of fibroblasts could result in abnormal tissue function. For example, the excess proliferation of fibroblasts contributes to the adventitial thickening observed during the development of hypoxia-induced pulmonary hypertension. HPF from Gentaur Research Laboratories are isolated from human lung tissue. HPF are cryopreserved at primary culture and delivered frozen. Each vial contains 5×10^5 cells in 1 ml volume. HPF are characterized by immunofluorescent method with antibody to fibronectin. HPF are negative for HIV-1, HBV, HCV, mycoplasma, bacteria, yeast and fungi. HPF are guaranteed to further expand for 15 population doublings at the condition provided by Gentaur Research Laboratories.

Rat Primary Pulmonary Artery Fibroblasts from Gentaur are isolated from tissue of neonatal Sprague-Dawley Rats. Rat Primary Pulmonary Artery Fibroblasts are grown in T75 tissue culture flasks pre-coated with gelatin-based solution for 0.5 hour and incubated in Gentaur's Cell Culture Medium for 3-7 days. Cultures are then expanded. Prior to shipping, cells are detached from flasks and immediately cryo-preserved in vials. Each vial contains at least 1x10^6 cells per ml and is delivered frozen.Cells are negative for bacteria, yeast, fungi, and mycoplasma. Rat Primary Pulmonary Artery Fibroblasts are tested for expression of marker using the antibody of anti-FSP1/S100A4 by immunofluorescence staining and can be expanded by 2-4 passages at a split ratio of 1:2 under the cell culture conditions specified by Gentaur. Repeated freezing and thawing of cells is not recommended.Standard biochemical procedures performed with fibroblast cultures include the assays of cell to cell interaction, PCR, Western blotting, immunoprecipitation, immunofluorescent staining, immunofluorescent flow cytometry or generating cell derivatives for desired research applications.

The cardiac fibroblasts (CF) are the principal cell type of the heart. They provide structural support for cardiac myocytes and are responsible for extracellular matrix synthesis in the heart during growth and pathophysiological conditions. CF are an important cellular component of myocardial responses to injury and the source of paracrine growth factors. Their proliferation and synthesis of matrix is essential for scar formation at sites of myocardial infarction, cardiac fibrosis, and is often complicated by cardiac hypertrophy. CF also respond to changing environments in pathophysiological conditions by modulating integrin expression. CF culture has been widely used as a model to study the cardiac matrix remodeled by physiological (exercise) and pathological (hypertension) stressors.HCF from Gentaur Research Laboratories are isolated from the human heart. HCF-a are cryopreserved at secondary culture and delivered frozen. Each vial contains 5×10^5 cells in 1 ml volume. HCF-a are characterized by immunofluorescent method with antibody to fibronectin. HCF-a are negative for HIV-1, HBV, HCV, mycoplasma, bacteria, yeast and fungi. HCF-a are guaranteed to further expand for 15 population doublings at the condition provided by Gentaur Research Laboratories.

The fibroblast is the cellular element responsible for fibrosis. Conjunctival fibroblasts, as other fibroblasts, act not only as structural cells in the production of the matrix components, but are also actively involved as effectors in allergic conjunctivitis. Conjunctival fibroblasts cultured with histamine induce the production of proinflammatory cytokines, such as IL-1, IL-6 and IL-8. Conjunctival fibroblast culture can serve as a useful in vitro model for rapid screening of drugs for their effect on fibroblast morphology, motility, and proliferation, and provide a basis for the development of new treatments for a variety of ocular proliferative disorders.HConF from Gentaur Research Laboratories are isolated from human conjunctiva. HConF are cryopreserved at primary culture and delivered frozen. Each vial contains 5×10^5 cells in 1 ml volume. HConF are characterized by their spindle morphology and immunofluorescent method with antibody to fibronectin. HConF are negative for HIV-1, HBV, HCV, mycoplasma, bacteria, yeast and fungi. HConF are guaranteed to further expand for 15 population doublings at the condition provided by Gentaur Research Laboratories.

Esophageal fibroblasts which line the lamina propria of the upper and lower esophagus are mesenchymal cells that originated from the embryonic mesoderm. They have been shown to play an important role in angiogenesis through TGF-β and VEGF signaling pathways in the highly angiogenic esophageal squamous cell carcinoma. Predominantly, fibroblasts secrete a nonrigid extracellular matrix that is both rich in type I and/or type III collagen. They are responsible for much of the synthesis of extracellular matrix in the connective tissues and play major roles in wound healing. Because they are one of the simplest types of cells to grow in culture fibroblasts have been extensively used for a wide range of cellular and molecular studies. In addition, fibroblasts’ durability makes them amenable to a wide variety of manipulations ranging from gene transfection to microinjection. The HEF cells from Gentaur Research Laboratories are isolated from human esophageal tissue. HEF are cryopreserved at passage one and delivered frozen. Each vial contains 5×10^5 cells in 1 ml volume. HEF are characterized by immunofluorescence with antibody specific to fibronectin. HEF are negative for HIV-1, HBV, HCV, mycoplasma, bacteria, yeast and fungi. HEF are guaranteed to further expand for 15 population doublings at the conditions provided by Gentaur Research Laboratories.
