Derived from the mesoderm, connective tissue is involved in maintaining the structural integrity of the body. The predominant cells found in connective tissue are fibroblasts, which continuously secrete various components of the extracellular matrix. Depending on the site of origin and physiological status, fibroblasts may exhibit different morphological phenotypes and various functional properties.Gentaur offers a range of Human Fibroblasts produced at Gentaur's cell culture facility. The cells are isolated from normal human juvenile foreskin or adult skin from different locations. In addition, Gentaur offers Fibroblasts from adult lung tissue, aortic adventitial tissue, and villous placental tissue.Shortly after isolation, all Gentaur Human Fibroblasts are cryopreserved at passage 2 (P2) using Gentaur's proprietary, serum-free freezing medium,Cryo-SFM. Each cryo vial contains more than 500,000 viable cells after thawing. Proliferating cell cultures are made from 500,000 cryopreserved cells that have been thawed and cultured for three days at Gentaur.

Fibroblasts are mesenchymal cells derived from the embryonic mesoderm. They have been extensively used for a wide range of cellular and molecular studies. This is mainly because they are one of easiest types of cells to grow in culture, and their durability makes them amenable to a wide variety of manipulations ranging from studies employing gene transfection to microinjection. There is good evidence that fibroblasts in different parts of the body are intrinsically different. Fibroblasts secrete a non-rigid extracellular matrix that is rich in type I and/or type III collagen. They are responsible for much of the synthesis of extracellular matrix in connective tissues and play major roles in wound healing. Many diseases are associated with fibroblasts, either because fibroblasts are implicated in their etiology or because of the fibrosis that accompanies damage to other cell types in tissues. For example, the development of bowl stenosis in Crohn’s disease patients is caused by extreme fibroblast proliferation and extracellular matrix expansion.HIF from Gentaur Research Laboratories are isolated from human intestinal tissue. HIF are cryopreserved at passage one and delivered frozen. Each vial contains 5×10^5 cells in 1 ml volume. HIF are characterized by their spindle morphology and immunofluorescent method with antibody to fibronectin. HIF are negative for HIV-1, HBV, HCV, mycoplasma, bacteria, yeast and fungi. HIF are guaranteed to further expand for 15 population doublings at the condition provided by Gentaur Research Laboratories.

Human gallbladder fibroblasts (HGBF) are responsible for eicosanoid synthesis, specifically PGI2. Chronic stimulation of HGBF results in up-regulated synthesis and release of PGI2 which aids in formation of early acute cholecystitis. HGBF are very versatile cells and could be used in studies of many conditions, such as the early stages of acute cholecystitis.HGBF from Gentaur Research Laboratories are isolated from human gallbladder tissue. HGBF are cryopreserved at passage one and delivered frozen. Each vial contains 5×10^5 cells in 1 ml volume. HGBF are characterized by their spindle morphology and immunofluorescence with antibody specific to fibronectin. HGBF are negative for HIV-1, HBV, HCV, mycoplasma, bacteria, yeast and fungi. HGBF are guaranteed to further expand for 15 population doublings at the condition provided by Gentaur Research Laboratories.
