Description of target: FABP4, also known as aP2 (adipocyte Protein 2), encodes the fatty acid binding protein found in adipocytes. The FABP4 gene is mapped to 8q21. FABP4 functions as a cytosolic lipid chaperone in macrophages and is involved in regulating macrophage endoplasmic reticulum (ER) stress.
