Human Mammary Microvascular Endothelial Cells

Vascular endothelial cells line the blood vessels and contribute to many biological processes such as hematosis, coagulation, trafficking of lymphocytes, and the inflammatory response. The endothelial cell is of primary importance in the extravasation of leukocytes from the circulation into sites of tissue inflammation. In the case of mastitis, the magnitude and duration of inflammation can be related to such parameters as endothelial adhesion molecules expression, cytokine secretion, as well as changes in vascular permeability. Histological study demonstrates that mammary microvasculature is a prominent feature of intralobular tissue and the endothelial cells play an important role in the study of mastitis and associated mammary gland immunopathology. HMMEC from Gentaur Research Laboratories are isolated from human breast tissue. HMMEC are cryopreserved after purification and delivered frozen. Each vial contains 5×10^5 cells in 1 ml volume. HMMEC are characterized by immunofluorescent method with antibodies to vWF/Factor VIII and CD31 (P-CAM) and by uptake of DiI-Ac-LDL. HMMEC are negative for HIV-1, HBV, HCV, mycoplasma, bacteria, yeast and fungi. HMMEC are guaranteed to further expand for 15 population doublings at the conditions provided by Gentaur Research Laboratories.

Studies show that intestinal microvascular endothelial cells exhibit a strong immune response to LPS challenge and play a critical regulatory role in gut inflammation. Pharmacological inhibition of NOS in activated intestinal microvascular endothelial cells resulted in a significant increase in leukocytes binding. Gene expression profile study reveals that intestinal endothelial cells express biotinidase, which is involved in biotin recycling. The in vitro culture of these cells enabled scientists to perform systematic analyses of the cytokine profiles with regard to mRNA expression and protein secretion, and to compare such data with cytokine profiles concomitantly displayed by other endothelial cells.HCoMEC from Gentaur Research Laboratories are isolated from human colonic tissue.
