Blood vessels of the skin are composed of a number of cellular and non-cellular elements. The predominant cell type in all skin blood vessels is the endothelial cell. Endothelial cells form the interface between intravascular and extravascular compartments and serve as a selective barrier for the diffusion of cells and macromolecules between these two compartments. The endothelial cells lining blood vessels of the skin share features of endothelial cells elsewhere in the body, but they also exhibit several skin specific characteristics. They are active participants in a variety of physiological processes. These include wound healing, control of hemostasis, temperature regulation, and the modulation of inflammation/leukocyte trafficking. The structure and function of endothelial cells are differentially regulated in space and time. Endothelial cell proliferation, quiescence, apoptosis, and senescence are the four principal cytologic states that set the cutaneous microvascular in a dynamic balance between maintenance and remodeling.HDMEC-a from Gentaur Research Laboratories are isolated from human dermal tissue. HDMEC-a are cryopreserved on passage one and delivered frozen. Each vial contains 5×10^5 cells in 1 ml volume. HDMEC-a are characterized by immunofluorescent method with antibodies to vWF/Factor VIII and CD31 (P-CAM) and by uptake of DiI-Ac-LDL. HDMEC-a are negative for HIV-1, HBV, HCV, mycoplasma, bacteria, yeast and fungi. HDMEC-a are guaranteed to further expand for 15 population doublings in the conditions provided by Gentaur Research Laboratories.

The walls of capillaries are composed of a single layer of microvascular endothelial cells. These cells differ in morphology and other properties depending on the tissues the capillaries supply. Therefore,Gentaur offers a range of Microvascular Endothelial Cells produced at Gentaur's cell culture facility from normal human tissues of different origins.Shortly after isolation, all Gentaur Microvascular Endothelial Cells are cryopreserved at passage 2 (P2) using Gentaur's proprietary, serum-free freezing medium, Cryo-SFM. Each cryo vial contains more than 500,000 viable cells after thawing.Proliferating cell cultures are made from 500,000 cryopreserved cells that have been thawed and cultured for three days at Gentaur.

Primary Human Glomerular Microvascular Endothelial Cells were initiated by decapsulated glomeruli isolated from normal human kidney cortical tissue. These cells were originated using Complete Serum-Free Medium Kit With AcceSup™, are available at <12 Cumulative Population Doublings (CPD) in vitro [Passage 3] and were cryopreserved in aliquots of ~1.5×10^6 cells. This vial will initiate a Passage 4 cell culture in a 75cm2 flask.

Endothelial cells lining the microvasculature are known to play a critical "gatekeeper" role in the inflammatory process through their ability to recruit circulating immune cells into tissues and foci of inflammation. Studies show that intestinal microvascular endothelial cells (IMEC) exhibit a strong immune response to LPS challenge and play a critical regulatory role in gut inflammation. Pharmacological inhibition of NOS in activated HIMEC resulted in a significant increase in leukocytes binding. Gene expression profile study reveals that intestinal endothelial cells express biotinidase, which is involved in biotin recycling. The in vitro culture of HIMEC enabled scientists to perform systematic analyses of the cytokine profiles with regard to mRNA expression and protein secretion, and to compare such data with cytokine profiles concomitantly displayed by other endothelial cells.HIMEC from Gentaur Research Laboratories are isolated from human intestinal tissue. HIMEC are cryopreserved at passage one and delivered frozen. Each vial contains 5×10^5 cells in 1 ml volume. HIMEC are characterized by immunofluorescent method with antibodies to vWF/Factor VIII and CD31 (P-CAM) and by uptake of DiI-Ac-LDL. HIMEC are negative for HIV-1, HBV, HCV, mycoplasma, bacteria, yeast and fungi. HIMEC are guaranteed to further culture in the conditions provided by Gentaur Research Laboratories.

Vascular endothelial cells line the blood vessels and contribute to many biological processes such as hematosis, coagulation, trafficking of lymphocytes, and the inflammatory response. The endothelial cell is of primary importance in the extravasation of leukocytes from the circulation into sites of tissue inflammation. In the case of mastitis, the magnitude and duration of inflammation can be related to such parameters as endothelial adhesion molecules expression, cytokine secretion, as well as changes in vascular permeability. Histological study demonstrates that mammary microvasculature is a prominent feature of intralobular tissue and the endothelial cells play an important role in the study of mastitis and associated mammary gland immunopathology. HMMEC from Gentaur Research Laboratories are isolated from human breast tissue. HMMEC are cryopreserved after purification and delivered frozen. Each vial contains 5×10^5 cells in 1 ml volume. HMMEC are characterized by immunofluorescent method with antibodies to vWF/Factor VIII and CD31 (P-CAM) and by uptake of DiI-Ac-LDL. HMMEC are negative for HIV-1, HBV, HCV, mycoplasma, bacteria, yeast and fungi. HMMEC are guaranteed to further expand for 15 population doublings at the conditions provided by Gentaur Research Laboratories.
