Human Caucasian rectum adenocarcinoma. Established from a Grade IV adenocarcinoma of the rectum of a 53 year old Caucasian male. The cells produce CEA and electron microscopy reveals brush borders.<Br />The cells are negative for expression of CSAp (CSAp-) and colon antigen 3, negative. There is a C -andgt; T mutation in codon 248 of the p53 gene resulting in an Arg -andgt; Trp substitution. The cells are positive for keratin by immunoperoxidase staining.

The SW 872 cell line was initiated by A. Leibovitz in 1974 at the Scott and White Clinic, Temple, Texas from a surgical specimen of a fibrosarcoma removed from a 36 year old male Caucasian.The histopathology evaluation reported an undifferentiated malignant tumor consistent with liposarcoma.

Human Caucasian colon adenocarcinoma. Derived from a grade III adenocarcinoma of the colon of an 81 year old Caucasian female. The cells synthesise relatively large amounts of CEA (2, 000ng/1, 000, 000 cells in 21 days).<Br />The cells are positive for keratin by immunoperoxidase staining. The line is positive for expression of c-myc, K-ras, H-ras, N-ras, myb and fos oncogenes. N-myc and sis oncogene expression were not detected.
